Potty Training

Potty training is an area of concern for anyone with a 2 year old. My little girl was potty trained a few month before she turned 3 but we started trying to train her at 2. At 3 she was only wearing a diaper to bed at night but not at naps. We do have an occasional accident but not as many as I thought we would have.

There are many ways to do it but what we did was at about 2 and a half, we got the little potty and she started wearing underwear and every hour we brought her to the potty. We did not use pull-ups. My mother in law was the one that gets most the credit since we were a bit lazy about it and she was pushing us.

Eventually, she would say "I have to go potty" and go over herself. Pee Pee was easier than Poo Poo. It took a few months longer for her to go number 2.

Most children do not potty train until closer to 3 years old so you might want to start at 2 and a half and save a lot of battles. When you are ready just do it without the pull-ups since after a few accidents they get it faster than a pull-up which is just a light diaper. I found that at this age the kids can not pull a pull-up down and up very easily by themselves.

Which ever method you use, in most cases your child will be potty trained by 3 years old.
